The American University in Dubai (AUD) invites Doctoral qualified applicants for the full time position -to start immediately- of "Chair" to head up its Arts and Sciences Division.

The purpose of the Arts and Sciences curriculum at the American University in Dubai is to provide students with a broad educational program that develops their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, understand and appreciate cultural diversity, and increase their aesthetic awareness. The Arts and Sciences curriculum is a required component of all undergraduate degree programs at AUD and it introduces students to the arts, humanities, and social sciences, thereby expanding their knowledge and experience beyond their major field of study.

Required Qualifications:

an earned doctoral degree in an arts, sciences, humanities, social sciences or a related discipline, from a Western accredited/recognized university
commitment to the principles of the liberal arts education model and to excellence in education
a history of highly effective teaching
a track record of scholarly contributions to his/her discipline
self-initiative and a goal orientation with a sense of time and task commitments
ability to lead a team of educators with tact, sincerity, compassion, and resourcefulness
ability to motivate faculty and students to maintain and enhance the quality of teaching and learning
experience in leading the curriculum development process
knowledge of and experience in outcomes assessment and accreditation processes
organization and administration skills and effectiveness
strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
excellent oral and written communication skills
