The School of Engineering is designed to provide graduates the ability to start a successful focused
career with the necessary knowledge and tools. The department's mission is primarily teaching with components of educational
scholarship through applied research and industry/professional outreach. The School of Engineering invites qualified
candidates to apply for the position of Civil Engineering Laboratory Technician or Engineer to start immediately.
Principle responsibilities:
- Ordering equipment and setting up new engineering labs;
- Maintaining, organizing, and replenishing lab supplies;
- Administering lab inventories and proposing improvements to the Civil Engineering labs;
- Troubleshooting equipment hardware and software problems;
- Coordinating equipment installation, repair, and warranties with vendors;
- Assisting the professors during the lab sessions;
- Maintaining a fully functional classroom and laboratory environment;
- Modifying and developing technical lab manuals, instruction manuals, reference guides and safety documents;
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or anyone acting in his or her capacity.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering or Diploma/Associate degree in construction, surveying, or a related field;
- At least two years of laboratory or field experience in the case of a Diploma or Associate degree;
- Familiarity with surveying equipment and procedures;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Desired Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in engineering labs at universities, research institutes or other organizations;/li>
- MS degree and lab teaching experience;
- Competency in AutoCAD and other civil engineering software.
