Health Center

Mission
The mission of the AUD Health Center is to provide general care and health supervision of all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff and to promote the prevention of illness and the well being of students, staff, and faculty.

Blood Drive Campaign 01About the AUD Heath Center

Minor cases are treated on the premises; students may be referred to health providers in the area for more serious problems requiring treatment that exceeds the AUD Health Center’s capabilities. The University Health Center also conducts blood tests for residence visas, for individuals sponsored by the university. The Health Center also provides health education programs for the University community on a regular basis.

Special Needs / Routine Medical Needs
Students with medical problems or disabilities that require care or restrict their campus activities must submit a letter from their family physician describing their conditions, restrictions, and special requirements to the Health Center Director prior to joining the university.
World No Smoking Day, May 31 2007
The goals of the Health Center are to provide accessible health care, and serve students needs on campus by encouraging wellness through health education. The Health Center maintains standard university practices of health services, and provides routine medical care for minor acute illnesses and injuries. The Health Center also strives to assist students in preventing absences due to health problems.

Partnership with the American Hospital in Dubai
The American Hospital in Dubai (AHD) works in partnership with AUD to provide health care and services conforming to American standards and practices. The Health Services Director is a registered nurse from the American Hospital in Dubai. The University Health Center refers students to this facility and others in the area. Special AUD student rates are offered at AHD.

Health History
AUD prides itself in offering quality health services. To maintain our standards and fully address the health and medical needs of our students, the AUD Health Center requires that all AUD students submit the Student Health History Form (available at the AUD Health Center) to the Health Center. This Form must be endorsed and stamped by a physician.
  • Deadline for submitting the Student Health History Form is the last day of the Fall Semester (Drop / Add, see AUD Academic Calendar).
  • Failure to provide the completed form before the deadline will result in the student being put on Registration Hold for the Spring Semester.
All health information is confidential. Only the following staff members have access (as needed): President, Executive Vice President, Dean of Student Services, and Housing Manager (for dorm students). All students medical records are kept under a locked filing system, and they are not released to others without the written consent (Authorization of Health Information Release) of the student or his/her parents
