IS READING ACROSS CAMPUS MANDATORY?
The Reading Across Campus program is not a required part of the curriculum. It is a voluntary program meant to encourage interest in reading as a foundational aspect of what it means to be truly educated.
While not mandatory, widespread engagement with the text, both in and out of the classroom, will help make the Reading Across Campus program an integral part of our mission to promote whole-person education.
Faculty, staff, and student organizations are encouraged to find creative ways to integrate the common reading text, and/or the themes that the text raises, into their classes and university-related activities whenever appropriate.
