The Office of Student services at AUD organized the Spring 2017 orientation day for new students and their parents.
Students were greeted by Orientation Leaders. After the students checked in and received their welcome packets, they heard from the Dean of Student Services, the President of AUD and the Provost.
They learned more about the co-curricular activities they will participate in from the offices of Student Activities, Athletics, and on campus Housing, followed by a meeting with the Health Center staff, who will work with them on medical-related issues and programming, and can assist them with counseling-related concerns.
Next was an introduction to the Office of Student Retention and Success, where the students met the team that will assist them with Career Services, Academic Support and Advising.
After a commemorative group picture was taken, new students and their parents joined Orientation Leaders, fellow students, faculty, and staff for a social gathering of a light lunch and refreshments to celebrate the beginning of your career at AUD.
A session titled Your Peer Guide to Academic Success
, led by Orientation Leaders followed and included peer-directed ice-breakers and discussions regarding student life at AUD. This was a valuable opportunity for students to engage in fun activities and ask questions about the university experience.
The new students then separated to join their respective new schools, where they were joined by faculty and learned about their program requirements and courses.
The day ended with a tour of AUD, and for those living on campus, with a special session with the Resident Assistants who spoke of the different AUD Housing policies.
