Part of the 2017 Abu Dhabi Festival

AUD professors Dr. Hendrik Wahl, Associate Professor of Digital Media and Michael Rice, Associate Professor of Studio Art, have been commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation to create artwork for the “Art of Nature” exhibition, part of the 2017 Abu Dhabi Festival.
“The Art of Nature” is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region.
Hosted in the verdant setting of Umm Al Emarat Park, this exhibition marks the 20th anniversary of the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi and celebrates the Emirate’s natural abundance. The exhibition is scheduled from March 23rd to April 23 2017 at Umm Al Emarat Park, Abu Dhabi.
Featuring new commissions and loaned artworks by UAE-based practitioners [including AUD’s Wahl and Rice], encounter diverse environments and reflect on the exceptional species and habitats unique to the UAE.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a broad educational programme, allowing aspiring artists of all ages to engage with the nation’s flora, fauna and landscapes.[1]
Dr. Woodman Taylor, Chair of Visual Communication at AUD comments, “This certainly confirms the outstanding artistic quality of both Hendrik’s animation and Michael's ceramic and glass creations. Their selection and the presentation of their work will display to the larger arts community in the UAE the innovative approaches they have to design while simultaneously broadcasting the excellence of AUD faculty teaching in our Department of Visual Communication.
