Faculty Professional Development Workshop
on Learning Outcomes Assessment: Best Practices, Concepts, Tools and Techniques
The Office of the Provost organized the Spring 2017 Faculty Professional Development Workshop under the theme Learning Outcomes Assessment: Best Practices, Concepts, Tools and Techniques.
The first session, presented by Dr. Suleiman Hamdan, Director of Institutional Effectiveness at AUD, covered the purpose, design and implementation of Learning Outcomes Assessment.
As for Dr. Jihad Nader, AUD Provost, he presented the second session on Course-Level Learning Outcomes Assessment.
“The practice of holding a faculty professional development workshop each semester over the past several years has become more programmatic and AUD-specific, with each workshop focusing on a theme that is relevant to teaching, learning and scholarly activity within AUD’s setting and environment,” comments Dr. Nader.
This theme and the topics that were covered at the workshop have become increasingly relevant and important to educators at all levels, worldwide and here in the UAE, and it is of central importance to AUD both for ongoing internal assessment of effectiveness at the program and course levels, and for the numerous accreditation exercises that involve every academic unit in the university.
