The Admissions Office at AUD hosted over 1,000 students from Grades 12 and 11 during the Spring 2017 Open Day, held on February 9, 2017 on campus.
Students were given the opportunity to learn about the Bachelor’s degree programs offered by AUD, as well as the Admission requirements and application procedure. Students, accompanied by Orientation Leaders, were given a tour of the campus facilities and discovered university life at AUD.
Moreover, professors and representatives from various departments and students chatted with the students about AUD’s degree programs in a casual and friendly atmosphere.
At the School of Business Administration, a presentation and a Q & A session with faculty members was organized.
At the School of Engineering, students were able to view a showcasing of works from the Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Computer programs as well as live experiments and took a tour of the labs.
As for the School of Architecture, Art and Design, the Department of Architecture gave a presentation on the program, and gave a tour of the classrooms. The Interior Design Department spoke about the role of designers in the region, discussed hands-on workshops, and showcased works by students. Students visiting the Visual Communication Department were able to view an exhibition of works from Advertising, Digital Media, Graphic Design and Studio Art majors as well as displays of portfolios, followed by a Q & A session with the faculty.
At the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication, students visited the studios where they simulated a production set, the editing rooms, analyzed various news stories, and had a Q & A session with the faculty.
The School of Arts and Sciences organized an international crisis simulation, followed by a Q & A session with the faculty.
The Admissions Office held an Instagram contest throughout the day, where students were asked to take photos representing the AUD Open Day spirit, and posting them on Instagram using #audopenday, and tagging AUD’s official handle @audubai. The winner received an iPad.
A raffle draw was also organized, during which lucky winners received gift vouchers from Virgin Megastore.
