What employers seek and how to prepare for a successful job interview

The Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication (MBRSC) at AUD hosted a Media Chat Series with Nada Rizkallah, Senior Client Partner at Metin Mitchell & Company, a Dubai-based executive search and management advisory firm. She discuss what employers in the region seek and how to prepare for a successful job interview.
Rizkallah began her session by saying that the two most important elements for any employee to get accepted for a job are time management and creativity. She gave general advice to the students about preparing for a job interview.
Regarding preparation before the interview, she insisted on taking care of clothes the night before the interview and getting to know the interview’s location. She told the students to make sure they had done a grammar and spellcheck for their CVs. She said: “Your CV is the first introduction, any mistake in the CV will be considered a disrespect for the interviewer and the company.” She added: “Make sure to have a copy of your CV with you during the interview in case the interviewer doesn’t have one.”
She continued that on the day of the interview, job seekers need to give themselves time to relax before the interview. She emphasized the importance of first impression with the interviewer by saying: “make sure to dry and firm the hand shake, make eye contact and smile! During the interview, always go with the truth. no matter what is it. Sticking to the truth is a good strategy, and listening carefully to the interviewer is an admirable quality.”
She concluded: “no matter how much the interview is difficult, you keep smiling, thanking them, and never show your nervousness.”
