AUD and NOMADS Collaborate in Advertising Studies

 The Marketing Department of the School of Business Administration in the American University in Dubai has collaborated with the global creative agency, NOMADS, to enhance student learning beyond the realms of the classroom. NOMADS, with the grace of one of their clients, Majid Al Futtaim (MAF), the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), challenged students with a brief to “Develop a through the line campaign that will position Majid Al Futtaim as the leader in creating great experiences in the MENA region for consumers and its partners.”
 
This unique opportunity allowed students to apply what they have learned throughout their interdisciplinary AUD studies and in the Strategic Advertising Planning course.  The interdisciplinary course of specializations in Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communications is designed in partial fulfillment of undergraduate degrees of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA). Five teams of students from both disciplines came up with interesting ideas, including this one by Basma Choucri, Abdulrahman Suwailam, Mariam Al Omaira, Seifalla Khodair, and Ghazi Al-Yaman. The teams presented their final projects to the Executive Creative Director and the Strategic Director of Nomads, Richard Hol and Nadine Matar, respectively, on December 18, 2017. According to Ms. Matar, “It was a pleasure to collaborate with AUD on the Advertising & Integrated Marketing Communications program. At Nomads, we believe in working with the community around us to create a positive impact and a better world for everyone. By helping to shape the bright young minds of the future, not only are we giving back to our community, but we are also making a valuable contribution to our industry by cultivating passionate, young talent that is the future of our business.” 

Overall, it was an enriching experience for both parties, with Nomads acquiring youthful insight, and AUD students receiving constructive advice from the industry experts.
