AUD Students Attend Al Maktoum College’s Summer School Program in Scotland and France
Four Emirati female students from the American University in Dubai were selected to attend the Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education’s Summer School Program. Delivered from June 18 to July 14, 2018 across Dundee, Scotland, and Paris, France, the main objective of the four-week program was to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to take on active leadership roles in today’s globalized world. Through a series of lectures, plenary sessions, tutorials, in-depth class discussions, cross-cultural dialogues, and study trips on the topical areas of globalization, multiculturalism, leadership and management, and more, the program aimed to holistically prepare these women for potential future leadership roles within their country. The four high-achieving AUD students in attendance were Ms. Amna Janahi, Ms. Amna Taher, Ms. Fatma Taher, and Ms. Salma Makki.
Established in 2001 under the patronage and sponsorship of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, the Summer School Program aligned with Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education’s overarching mission of enhancing understanding and appreciation between the Arab and Islamic worlds and the West through encouraging greater dialogue across cultures and peoples.

AUD’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Development, Dr. Jihad S. Nader, attended the Summer School Concluding Ceremony in Dundee, Scotland. Commenting on the program, Dr. Nader stated, “I highly appreciate Al Maktoum College’s generous support to the AUD students who attended Summer School 2018. At AUD, we value our longstanding partnership with Al Maktoum College and we recognize the lasting contributions of the College’s programs to the educational and personal development of the UAE’s youth.”
