Orientation Day 2018
New students welcomed at the 2018 Orientation Day
The American University in Dubai welcomed the 2018 Freshmen with a special orientation day on Saturday, September 8th.
New students and their families were directed upon arrival to the AUD Knights Sports Arena, where all of the academic units, student support centers and Student Services departments were on hand to discuss their programs, initiatives and upcoming events calendar, as well as answer any queries about their respective departments.
Following the arena exhibition, the students were directed to the AUD Auditorium, where they received a warm welcome note from Dr. Robin Anke, Dean of Student Services. Dr Anke was followed on stage by AUD’s President, Dr. Lance de Masi, who gave an inspirational and impassioned speech on AUD’s achievements, from the merits of the university to the accomplishments of its students and alumni. “Dream and dream big. AUD is really good at helping you do this. If you already have a dream, we’ll help you turn it into reality; and if you don’t have any dreams, we’ll help you get a few” concluded Dr. Lance de Masi to the incoming students.
Dr. de Masi was succeeded on stage by AUD’s new Provost, Dr. Imad Hoballah, who presented the crowd with details on AUD’s mission and objectives to integrate technology in the classroom, as well as engaging audience members in a talk on the power of having a positive mindset. He cited AUD as the helping hand of both the parents and students, stating “ at AUD you will learn how to never squash that passion for questioning, searching for problems and for their solutions, and exploring for new answers and ways, and how not to be afraid of trying or failing.”
We wish the Freshmen of 2018 an enriching and inspirational journey at AUD.
