Admission Requirements for Visiting Students

To apply for AUD as a visiting student, you need:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or the equivalent of good academic standing.
  • Proof of English language proficiency. *

        TOEFL® iBT 60-78
        IELTS™ 6.0

*Required for students from institutions where the language of instruction is not English. An alternative English certificate may be accepted for some partner institutions.

Visiting Student Applications

Visiting/Study Abroad students joining AUD for one semester or more with the intention of transferring credits back to their home institution should submit the following documents. Please make sure that the following items are included with your application as your admission will be dependent upon the receipt of all necessary documents that are required throughout the review of your application.

  • Completed Online Application (Please select “Visiting Students”)
  • Official College Transcript (sealed or sent directly from your institution’s Registrar).
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency (if required).
  • Completed Course Articulation/Transferability Consent.
  • Two recent passport-size photographs; passport photocopy with validity page; photocopy U.A.E. ID
  • Non-refundable application fee of AED420/US$115 payable as part of the online application process. A reservation deposit (non-refundable) of AED5,000/US1,370, which is fully applied toward tuition, is required upon acceptance for admission. Exchange program participants from AUD’s Official partner institutions are exempt from these fees. Due to the high number of applicants, students are requested to pay this deposit within two months of the start of the term of entry. No application will be accepted after this date without the reservation deposit.
  • Completed Health History Form. This form must be signed and stamped by a Physician.
  • Copy of valid health insurance card.

Visa Information for Visiting Students

Visiting students (Study Abroad/Exchange) who are accepted and enroll at AUD are eligible to be sponsored by the university and will be issued a Student Residence Visa valid for the duration of the enrollment (up to two semesters). All international visiting students are required to apply for a Student Residence Visa with AUD, except for GCC nationals. Students should apply for the visa 2 months prior to the start of the semester by contacting the Admissions Office at

As part of the visa process, students are automatically enrolled in the AUD-sponsored health insurance plan.

  • Colored photocopy of passport with validity page (min. 6 months validity)
  • 1 passport-size photo
  • Copy of current visa, if applicable
  • Copy of tenancy contract (Ejari). Waived for those living in AUD Housing.


These are applicable only to those students who enter the UAE with another type of visa (tourist, etc.) and apply for an AUD Student Residence Visa while they are in the UAE.

  • Change of visa status: AED600
  • Issue visa while in country: AED700

Visa processing usually takes 3 to 4 working days. Delays may occur at the Department of Naturalization and Residency Dubai (DNRD). AUD will assist all visiting students with the visa application process.

AUD-sponsored students who complete their semester(s) at AUD must contact the Visa Officer to process their visa cancellation two weeks prior to returning to their home country. The visa cancelation fee is AED 200 (US$ 55), students are also required to return their insurance card when submitting the Visa Cancelation Form at the Finance Office.

You can still process your visa cancelation outside of UAE and submit the paperwork remotely. However, the fee for remote visa cancelation is AED 300 (US$ 81).
