AUD Welcomes H.H. Sheikh Hamdan’s Office

Fostering Cultural and Educational Exchanges through Al Maktoum College

Dec 08, 2015

The External Relations Office and AUD Provost, Dr. Jihad Nader recently welcomed H.E. Mr. Mirza Al-Sayegh, Director of the Office of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and Chairman of Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education in Dundee, Scotland (UK). H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the patron and sponsor of the independent and international research-led college, which offers training courses available in the spring and summer for young women in the region.
During the official visit, H.E. Mr. Al Sayegh, met with female UAE National students to introduce the programs offered by Al-Maktoum College. The friendly presentation offered the women a detailed account of the course and its benefits, to which the students responded in a very positive manner – eager to represent AUD through this educational development.
Dr. Nader, who has been closely involved in the program proudly supported the program and encouraged the young women to participate, stating that the program would help to widen their scope, to immerse them in a different culture, and to offer them a unique opportunity to interact with other students from different backgrounds.
For several years, AUD has nominated students to attend the Summer School Program at Al-Maktoum College. It is a one-month, fully-funded program in the UK which is open to female university students (junior and senior levels) from the UAE and other Arab and Islamic countries. AUD sent three high achieving UAE national students to partake in the program as recently as this past summer. Students who attended this program have provided very positive feedback about the educational components and the various other learning, cultural and social activities that take place in different parts of the UK.
The External Relations Office at AUD, which has coordinated and prepared the students for this training, aims to establish and manage local, regional and international relations, and special projects/events that help further increase the visibility and awareness of AUD’s programs and activities while fostering intercultural understanding among its students and preparing them for success in the global community.
