Ms. Cristofol Garcia was appointed Adjunct Instructor of Spanish at the American University in Dubai in August 2021. Prior to this, she spent four years at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain), where she worked as a pre-doctoral researcher. During her years at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, she was also tutor of the language MOOC TandemMOOC, and she took part in the European Project PENSA, founded by the Erasmus+programme with the aim to promote teachers’ professionalization using digital technology in order to support autonomy and citizenship. In addition, she has taught numerous graduate and undergraduate Spanish language and culture courses at ESADE, Ramon Llull University (Spain), and she has been a Spanish language teaching intern at the University of Florence (Italy) for one academic year. She is also an examiner of Instituto Cervantes since 2016, for which she has served several Instituto Cervantes’ headquarters in Spain and Italy during their exam calls.

Ms. Garcia’s research is in the field of foreign language learners’ emotions with a focus on online learning contexts. She has presented at several international conferences and her research work has been published in the form of conference papers, book chapters, and academic articles. Moreover, she was classified as a finalist of the “Present your thesis in four minutes” research contest organized by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation in June 2019.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, learning new languages, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring Dubai.
