Dr. Bakry joined AUD as an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering in Fall 2015. He is the Coordinator for the Masters of Science in Construction Management program at AUD since Fall 2020. His expertise is in the construction engineering and management domain. Before joining AUD, Dr. Bakry worked at Concordia University, Canada as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where his research focused on integrated infrastructure asset management. He helped design a multi-tiered database schema for integrated asset management, and a risk-based decision-making model for prioritizing asset intervention plans.
Dr. Bakry is also active in other research areas, where he periodically publishes and reviews papers in top-tier academic journals. Such research areas include managing repetitive projects, schedule optimization, modeling uncertainty in construction projects, simulating processes and lean construction.
Dr. Bakry maintains strong ties with the construction industry, especially the local market in Dubai. He is actively conducting collaborative research to solve problems faced on construction projects. He also frequently delivers training modules for construction engineers on different topics.
Dr. Bakry also has years of experience in managing construction projects of industrial nature in eight different countries in Africa and North America.
