On 22 April, AUD hosted the TEDxAUD event on campus, which aims to catalyze and amplify thought-provoking conversations and ideas that inspire positive change and drive collective action. Centered around the theme of 'The Just Transition,' the event hoped to cultivate an inclusive space that empowers diverse voices, fosters cross-disciplinary collaborations, and sparks innovative solutions.
Throughout the event, esteemed speakers shared profound insights on sustainability, social responsibility, AI, and environmental solutions. Their talks ignited discussions and inspired attendees to take actionable steps towards a more sustainable and just future. By providing a platform for these discussions, the TEDxAUD team hopes to contribute to the ripple effect of awareness, understanding, and impactful change within the university community and beyond.
A special acknowledgment goes to Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics, Lisa Brashear, and Dr. Hania Mahassen, Coordinator of the Mathematics Division and Associate Professor, for their contributions to bringing the TEDxAUD event to life, a mere 4 months after receiving the event license. Ms. Brashear remarked, "I dedicate my efforts to my family. Through our shared commitment to philanthropy, I hope to demonstrate my enduring care and join in our collective mission to contribute positively to the world."
Furthermore, numerous dedicated student volunteers and several notable sponsors helped shape the event including Herculean Alliance, Bravos, Ka'ak Al Manara, AJMS Group, Eco Club, and WISCE.
At the end of the event, participants left energized and motivated to continue their journey towards a more sustainable, just, and equitable future. Looking ahead, the TEDxAUD team aims to continue this important dialogue and drive positive change together.
