AUD Hosts International Education Panel: "Getting Them Life Ready"

On December 12, 2024, the American University in Dubai (AUD) hosted “Getting Them Life Ready: An International Education Panel”, a collaborative initiative by the Office of the Provost and the Office of Outreach and Career Development. The event brought together esteemed AUD faculty members to share valuable insights on equipping students with the skills, resilience, and mindset needed to thrive in today’s rapidly changing world.

Dr. Sabrina Joseph, Provost of AUD, opened the session with powerful introductory remarks, emphasizing AUD’s dedication to international education as a cornerstone of student success. Highlighting the UAE’s dynamic role as a global education hub, Dr. Joseph presented compelling data on Dubai’s rising international enrollments and the transformative opportunities created through globalized learning experiences.

Ms. Joelle Chamoun, a licensed Social Work professional, educator, and proud AUD alumna, expertly moderated the discussion. She guided the panelists through thought-provoking conversations on critical topics, including career readiness, resilience, cultural competence, and technological literacy.

The panel featured prominent AUD faculty members representing diverse disciplines:

  • Ms. Dina Faour – Professor of Advertising and Academic Coordinator, who integrates international education standards into curriculum design and bridges academia with global industry initiatives.
  • Dr. Farah Arkadan – Chair of Management and Marketing, who applies international teaching experiences to explore customer experience, sustainability, and organizational behavior.
  • Dr. Salem Haggag – Chair of Mechanical Engineering, who spearheaded COIL initiatives at AUD and whose expertise in mechatronics and advanced vehicle systems connects students to cutting-edge industry innovations.
  • Dr. Sandra Alexander – Assistant Professor of Humanities, who has led impactful overseas study programs that broaden students' global perspectives and cultural understanding.
  • Dr. Mary Chandy Vayaliparampil – Assistant Professor in Education, who has worked on initiatives supporting peacebuilding and education for women from disadvantaged communities.
