On December 5, the American University in Dubai (AUD) campus hosted to a remarkable UAE-wide university student competition that brought together the UAE's budding minds in a celebration of innovation and sustainability. The Sustainability Project Competition showcased 41 projects committed to innovation and a sustainable future from across UAE universities.
The competition was not just a student affair but a collaborative effort with a diverse panel of judges. Bringing a wealth of expertise and perspective, seventeen external judges, representing educational institutions, government bodies, and private entities, collaborated with twelve esteemed faculty members from AUD to meticulously review and assess the 41 projects. This collaborative approach ensured a well-rounded assessment that considered both academic rigor and real-world applicability, aligning with the competition's core focus on fostering sustainable solutions.
As the competition concluded with resounding success, the AUD provost, Dr. Sabrina Joseph, thanked the judges, students, and organizers, and presented the winners with prizes. Dr. Joseph noted “student dedication is the driving force behind any journey towards sustainability.”
In the spirit of collaboration and progress, AUD looks forward to hosting the Sustainability Project Competition again next year, anticipating an even more significant impact as students continue to push the boundaries of innovation and commitment to a sustainable future. Together, we can build a future that is not only environmentally conscious, but also socially responsible and inclusive.
