AUD student, Marieh Khalighinasab, has won first prize in the Architecture category of the 18th Cosentino Design Challenge, competing against 353 entries from over 50 global institutions.
The Awards Ceremony took place at the Cosentino City Dubai. This competition was integrated into the ARCH 301 course, taught by Professor Jose A. Carrillo, Associate Professor of Architecture in Fall 2023, thanks to a partnership with Cosentino City Dubai.
“Participating in the Cosentino Design Challenge and working with high-quality stones was fascinating. The concept 'COSENTINO AND ETERNITY' inspired me to explore how stones can honor memory in the context of farewell,” expressed Marieh. Her winning design, “Recuerdos”, is a commemorative hall in the Cosentino quarry in Spain. It features movable concrete blocks clad in Arcilla Red Silestone, allowing for a unique space for memory engraving and flexible events.
This achievement highlights Marieh’s talent and the mentorship of Professor Jose A. Carrillo, reflecting the positive impact of our industry partnerships.
