Creators in Media Competition

English or Arabic competition for Grade 12 students nationwide..

The Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication (MBRSC) at The American University in Dubai, in association with the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Dubai Press Club, presents the Creators in Media Competition in English or Arabic for Grade 12 students nationwide..


First prize: Full Tuition Scholarship at AUD

Top three winners will also receive other valuable prizes.


The MBRSC launches a revamped high-school competition open for all schools across the UAE.


All entries must include:

  1. A 1 to 2-minute original short video (fully made by the student) based on the following theme: “Mental Health among students due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
  2. A brief text describing the rationale behind the creative treatment of the short film (no more than 250 words).
  3. The video must be shot on your phone and shared on your social media. Applicants can choose the most relevant platform for them: Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc.


The video can be fictional (based on the student’s imagination) or factual (documentary, expert testimonial, personal experience, etc.) or any other free form that portrays the theme creatively.
Projects will be evaluated based on originality of the idea, concept, creativity, relevance (to the theme) and technique (good quality sound and video).


We advise the students to conduct some research to back up their project with facts.


Competition Details:

  • Contestants should upload their video on a social media platform in the MP4 H264 format, and add the hashtag: #creators_in_media
  • Contestants should send the link of their submission, with their name, email address, telephone number and school name to nmakansi@aud.edu.
  • Deadline for submissions is March 28th 2021.
  • Winners to be announced mid-April 2021.
