December was an eventful month at the AUD Visual Communication Department. First, there was the VC Senior Project Showcase, which took place at FN Designs Gallery on Alserkal Avenue from December 12 to 15, 2022. The Senior Projects centered on the theme of ‘Heroism’ and were supervised by Professor Dina Faour, Professor of Advertising (Creative) and Outreach Coordinator – Visual Communication. The work was reviewed by a panel of industry professionals comprising of Create Group, Hatch Design Studios, Jameel Art Center, M & C Saatchi, Nested VFX, and Saatchi & Saatchi.

One of the Senior Projects proposed a center for rehabilitating the increasing numbers of deaf and mute citizens and reintegrating them into the Iraqi community. This was the work of design student Shams Hamid , whose statement was: “A heroic nation is a nation that includes all its people.” The UNPD Iraq Provinces have commended Shams and have selected the idea, as well as the designs, to be executed and produced in Iraq.

The second proud moment was when AUD VC Advertising alumna, Lilian Ghusseini, was selected to intern at the National UAE Pavilion during the Venice Biennale 2022. Lilian served there for the duration of the exhibition and was commended for her professional attitude and work.

Finally, as part of the Quoz Arts Festival 2023, a select few of the VC Senior Projects were invited to remain on display at the request of the gallery, until the end of January 2023. Great job everyone!
