Mr. Darrel Perkins serves as Assistant Professor of Visual Communication at the American University in Dubai. He joined AUD in August 2019 after five years of teaching as an Adjunct in the School of Design at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

In addition to teaching at the collegiate level, Mr. Perkins has organized and led workshops throughout the community for a range of ages and experience levels. He specializes in drawing, painting, illustration, and printmaking courses.

Outside of academia, he has contributed work to the fields of commercial and fine art for over a decade. His commercial illustrations have been licensed for shirts, posters, labels, editorial and book illustrations, and mural painting. His paintings and prints have been featured in solo and group gallery exhibitions, shops, and pop-ups.
