Dr. Elena Tzenova joined the American University in Dubai in August 2022 as an Assistant Professor in Mathematics and Developmental Mathematics Support Leader. She is an accomplished educator in Mathematics and its applications with more than 18 years of experience in international higher education. She previously served as Coordinator of the Remedial Mathematics program at the City University of New York - College of Staten Island, and she worked at Zayed University and New York University Abu Dhabi, where she grew to appreciate the culture and learning traditions of the Middle East.
Dr. Tzenova has strong professional competency in teaching a variety of courses in Mathematics and Statistics in English at the tertiary level. Her career encompasses a range of courses, including Elementary and Intermediate Algebra, Pre-calculus, and including Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Probability and Statistics, and graduate-level courses in Operations Research and Stochastic Processes. Dr. Tzenova has a strong interest in developing and improving basic mathematical education given its formative role in student success in both Mathematics and Science. For this reason, Dr. Tzenova is truly excited by her role as Developmental Math Support Leader at AUD.
Dr. Tzenova has previous scientific research related to stochastic fluid models with priorities with several papers in some of the top journals in the field. Her current research interests are in the area of undergraduate Mathematics education and its enhancement.
