Dr. Madiha Hashmi is an Associate Professor of Oral Rhetoric at the American University in Dubai. Her research explores social judgments, impression formation, and communication across cultural contexts. Having taught at several universities across the Middle East over the past decade, she is particularly interested in how individuals in collectivist cultures rely on non-verbal cues when forming rapid evaluations of speakers and leaders. More recently, her work has expanded to student well-being, focusing on the role of communication and institutional support in shaping student experiences across diverse higher education settings.

In 2023, she was honored with the Provost’s Award for Innovation in Teaching.

In her spare time, she likes to travel, read and talk politics.
