Rhinoceros Level 1

With Emphasis on Digital Design & Fabrication

RHINOCEROS LEVEL 1 Poster Training

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course covers most of Rhino's functionality, including the most advanced surfacing commands. Students will learn through the planned exercises a range of tools and strategies particularly useful to design from 2D plans to complex 3D geometries using Rhinoceros.

The course has been structured to integrate the software within real design practices. The student will not only learn to model and obtain images in a basic way but the techniques to design more efficiently and handle any drawing, analysis and digital prototyping that comes by using Rhinoceros.

The student will be provided with access to manuals and tutorials with the exercises performed during the course for a better follow-up and future self-training, as well as the necessary files for the course.

TOPICS

The following contents will be covered:

  • Course Introduction
  • Rhinoceros Interface and Initial Settings
  • Modeling Helpers
  • Precision Modeling
  • Editing Geometry: Points, Curves, Surfaces and Solids
  • Modeling Techniques: NURBS
  • Modeling Techniques: Surfaces
  • Annotations, Printing and Layouts
  • Sinuous Seating: Complete Digital Design and Fabrication

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understanding of the intrinsic properties to the curves and NURBS surfaces that are the basis of modeling of the program.
  • Understanding the two and three-dimensional environment through the knowledge of the main 2D and 3D modeling tools.
  • Describe how to design complex 3D geometric shapes and get to the control and construction of the form.
  • Explain the theoretical framework of Digital Fabrication and Laser Cutting techniques.

KEY WORDS & FIELDS

  • Create advanced surfacing
  • Design efficiently
  • Create Layouts
  • Learn Digital Fabrication

This course is relevant, but not limited, to the following fields: Architecture, Interior Design, Product Design, Engineering, Jewelry, and Art.

DURATION

The training will be delivered for the period of 24 hours in 3 consecutive Saturdays;

  • March 20, 2021: 10.00-18.00 Lessons + tutoring
  • March 27, 2021: 10.00-18.00 Lessons + tutoring
  • April 3, 2021: 10.00-18.00 Lessons + tutoring + Certificates + Ceremony

METHOD OF COURSE DELIVERY

Due to COVID 19 this course will be delivered live online. It will not be asynchronous therefore full attendance and presence are required in order to accomplish the course and earn the certificate.

AUDIENCE

Professionals in the design industry like architects and engineers, urban, industrial, product, jewelry and interior designers, artists and anyone who wants to efficiently learn and develop a good understanding of best practice approaches to modelling in Rhinoceros modelling software.

PREREQUISITES & SOFTWARE SKILLS

No prior knowledge of Rhino or 3D is required for the course. Basic knowledge of other 2D/3D CAD software is preferred but not mandatory.

Although there is a version of Rhino for Mac, the course will be taught on the Rhino platform for Windows. You can use your Mac with Windows installed in the Bootcamp partition or through Virtual Machine Software like Parallels or VMWare Fusion.

DIPLOMA & CERTIFICATION

After completion of the course, and provided that the student has attended 80% of the course hours, he or she will be awarded the Official Certificate of Rhinoceros Level 1 Training by the Authorized Rhinoceros Trainer
