The American University in Dubai (AUD) is pleased to announce the formation of its institution-wide Strategic Planning Committee, a collaborative group dedicated to shaping the university’s direction for the next five years, from 2025 to 2030. This committee, composed of representatives from faculty, staff, students, alumni, and external partners, is entrusted with developing a visionary, mission-driven strategic plan. The plan will ensure AUD continues to thrive in the face of an evolving higher education landscape, staying true to its mission and values while anticipating future challenges and opportunities.
The Strategic Planning Committee is tasked with defining the university’s key priorities and aligning them with long-term goals. As part of this critical process, the committee will focus on questions like: What will AUD look like in 2035? What steps should we take by 2030 to achieve that vision? The committee will also be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, optimizing resource allocation, and laying a foundation for long-term sustainability. Their efforts will culminate in several key deliverables:
The committee is comprised of a diverse group of AUD stakeholders. Each member brings unique expertise and insight into the strategic planning process.
The Strategic Planning Committee meets once every two weeks to discuss critical topics, review progress, and set actionable goals. In addition, smaller working groups within the committee will meet more frequently to address specific tasks that will be brought to the larger group during the main meetings. The committee held its first meeting on September 26, 2024.
At AUD, the strategic planning process is not limited to the committee alone. It is a collaborative effort that involves every member of our community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partners. Opportunities for feedback will be regularly provided so that the plan reflects the aspirations, needs, and lived experiences of our diverse campus. The committee will share updates and information on how you can contribute your ideas, ensuring a transparent and inclusive approach to building our future.
The committee’s work will kick off this academic year, with a draft plan expected by the end of the year. The final strategic plan will be presented to the AUD Governing Board for approval by May 2025, and the official launch of the plan will coincide with AUD’s 30th anniversary in Fall 2025. This plan will serve as a roadmap guiding the university through 2030 and positioning us for future success.
We are confident that the outcomes of the committee's work will position AUD as a leader in higher education, fully prepared to face the challenges and seize the opportunities of tomorrow.
