Biology students' survey-based research project was selected for the sustainability poster competition at the American University in Dubai. This competition features innovative research and projects from students across universities in the UAE, focusing on addressing critical environmental challenges. Among 45 participants, the AUD Biology team’s poster, titled "Every Bite Counts: Rethinking the Potential of Food Scraps," secured third place. The project was guided by Dr. Ajmila Islam and led by Hiba Khamis, with contributions from Tallal Mansour, Khaled Zeidan, and Mahmoud Alsabagh.
Additionally, the students' research work was accepted for poster presentation at the "Challenges in Food Security and Sustainability" competition, held as part of the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE) 2024, further highlighting their contributions to food sustainability discussions.
We also extend our thanks to the second team for presenting "Cultivating the Future: Enhancing Food Security in the UAE through Alternative Food Sources," led by Aryaman Dayal, and supported by Mounir Alfahel, Amira Ahmad, and Lali Rhayem.
A big congratulations to both teams, and we look forward to celebrating their future accomplishments!
