The American University in Dubai hosted Mr. Jesus Sancho, the regional director of the Spanish company Acciona, a global developer of sustainable intratracheal projects . Mr. Sancho was welcomed by Dr. Imad Hoballah, Provost and Chief Academic Officer of the University, with academic staff, faculty members, and students attending.  The students were also briefed on an electric car manufactured by the company, which will participate in the desert race in the UAE this week.

The lecturer praised the cultural renaissance in the UAE and in Dubai, in particular. He added that his company is contributing to the construction of the Dubai Metro line between Nakheel Harbor and Tower and Expo 2020 headquarters. They are also constructing a seawater desalination plant with reverse osmosis technology at the Jebel Ali power plant complex, and working on phase III of the Mohammed bin Rashid Solar Power Complex.

Mr. Sancho explained to students the opportunities in the field of innovation, and presented an outlook to the future that depends on artificial intelligence in most parts of life.  He said his company started working in Dubai seven years ago and now has 2,500 workers from 20 nationalities. This indicates how successful Dubai has been in attracting international companies to regional headquarters.

Dr. Imad Hoballah met with Mr. Sancho and discussed ways of cooperation between the university and the company, and the possibility of training students. The lecturer invited a delegation from the university to visit its headquarters and see its projects and its findings in the field of 3D printing.
