Dr. Mabrook joined AUD in Fall 2024 with extensive teaching experience in various educational institutions in the Middle East and Europe. She is an associate fellow at the UK Higher Education Academy (HEA), and she embraces student-centered learning approaches to foster an interactive and engaging learning environment where she seeks to ensure an inclusive environment where students’ diversity enriches their learning experience.

Dr. Mabrook taught many under- and post-graduate courses, including media writing, digital content creation, theories of communication, international news and global journalism. She supervised students group projects as well as MA dissertations.

Dr. Mabrook’s research interests revolve around media innovations and journalism. She studies the impact of technology on journalistic practice and culture and examines the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism. She is also interested in the entrepreneurial culture among media practitioners and students. She worked as a research associate at London City Incubator (LCI) where she delivered business plans, market research, and presented findings to juries. She has also collaborated with teams to provide consultancy about whether incubated technologies are worth spinning out.

Dr. Mabrook published research as well as book reviews in top-tier peer reviewed journals in the field of journalism, including Journalism and Journalism Studies. She presented her research findings at leading academic conferences, such as the International Communication Association (ICA) and International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR). She reviewed manuscripts at various international journals, such as Australian Journalism Review. She served as an editor at the Egyptian Journal for Media Research, among the oldest journals in the field published in the Arab region.

When she is not working, Dr. Mabrook will probably be reading, walking, and exploring the outdoors.
