Dr. Basel Elkhapery joined AUD’s School of Engineering in Fall 2024 as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering. Dr. Elkhapery is passionate about the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), green building construction, and project management. His professional journey reflects a commitment to advancing these fields, particularly in Construction Automation (CA) and AI, with a specific focus on integrating robotics and UAVs. His teaching philosophy emphasizes fostering an entrepreneurial mindset in students, encouraging curiosity, innovation, and problem-solving.

Prior to joining AUD, Dr. Elkhapery served as an Assistant Professor at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he worked on innovative educational projects integrating AI into civil engineering. His research focuses on developing advanced methods to enhance the efficiency of construction tasks through cutting-edge technologies, ensuring they adhere to industry standards and best practices. Dr. Elkhapery’s work in robotics and UAVs is particularly focused on revolutionizing traditional construction processes by automating labor-intensive tasks.
