Dr. Muhammad Zia joined the American University in Dubai in Fall 2022 as an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in the School of Engineering. He has more than 10 years of teaching and research experience. Prior to joining AUD, he worked at different universities and industries in France, Pakistan, KSA, and UAE.

Dr. Zia collaborates on various research projects with experts in the fields of renewable energy, microgrid, power systems, applied optimization, and engineering education. Currently, his research focus is on energy management of hybrid power generation systems, power system operation and cyber-physical power system security. He is an active reviewer for Journals of IEEE, IET, Elsevier, and MDPI. Dr. Zia is also a Member of IEEE and IEEE PES society.
