Eligibility, Terms and Criteria

Eligibility Requirements for a Semester Abroad through Partnership Programs:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
  • Obtain sophomore standing (completed a minimum of 30 credit hours)
  • The last 2 semesters of coursework (a minimum of 30 credit hours) must be completed at AUD in order to be awarded an AUD degree
  • AUD scholarships will not cover the semester you are abroad. For other scholarships, please check with your scholarship sponsor to see if there are any restrictions on exchange and/or study abroad programs.
  • Students with transfer coursework from other institutions for their AUD degree program will need to check with the Registrar’s Office for further approvals before applying.

CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTING TRANSFER CREDIT
This is a preliminary form to indicate, before you take course(s) at another institution, whether the credits are eligible for transfer to AUD. No credit will be transferred without an official transcript from the institution where credit was earned. Students should familiarize themselves with AUD’s transfer credit policy in the AUD Undergraduate Catalog.

  1. Following a student’s initial enrollment at AUD, he/she may be granted transfer credit for a maximum of 5 courses (i.e. 15 credit hours), subject to approval by the Dean/Chair.
  2. A final evaluation of credits to be transferred will be made upon receipt of an official transcript and course descriptions from the host institution.
  3. The total number of credit hours transferred cannot exceed six (i.e., two courses) of the student’s chosen major.
  4. A minimum grade of “C” or better must be earned in order to be granted transfer credit for AUD-equivalent courses, unless a pre-requisite of “B” or better is required for a course at AUD. Please note that the grade for all accepted credits will reflect as “TC” on the transcript and will not be included in the GPA calculation but added to number of credits earned.
  5. The university will not grant transfer credit for courses designated as capstone, senior project, portfolio, internship or study tour. Examples include: MGMT 499, AIMC 431, VICD 455/456, IDES 331.
  6. A final evaluation of credits to be transferred will be made upon receipt of an official transcript and course description from the host institution.

Terms and Criteria for Applying for Non-Partnership Study Abroad Programs:

CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTING TRANSFER CREDIT
No credit will be transferred without an official transcript from the institution where credit was earned.

It is the student’s responsibility to order an official transcript, to be sent directly from the host institution to Admission’s Office, the American University in Dubai, P.O. Box 28282, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

  1. A grade of ‘C’ or better must be earned (only courses carrying 3 credits or higher can be transferred).
  2. In order to be granted transfer credit for 300/400 AUD-equivalent courses, a minimum grade of ‘B’ is required.
  3. Following a student’s initial enrollment at AUD, he/she may be granted transfer credit for a maximum of 5 courses (i.e. 15 credit hours), subject to approval by the Dean/Chair.
  4. A final evaluation of credits to be transferred will be made upon receipt of an official transcript and course descriptions from the host institution.

NOTES - In no case shall the total amount of transfer credit exceed 50% of the total credits required by a student’s degree requirements. under no circumstances will the total number of credit hours transferred exceed 6 (i.e. 2 courses) of the student’s chosen concentration.

  • Transfer credit is never granted for upper division (i.e., 300/400 level) courses in the bit program
  • Under no circumstances will the university grant transfer credit for courses designated as capstone, senior project, portfolio, internship or study tour. Examples include: MGMT499, MCOM491, EBUS499, VICD455/456, IDES455, IDES480, IDES481.
  • Students must complete their last 2 semesters (i.e. obtain a min. of 30 credit hours) at AUD to be awarded an AUD degree.
